Perhentian to KL to Singapore to The Next Episode…

Wow, so I haven’t posted for ages. I apologise.

In brief…After Penang we went back to Pulau Perhentian Kecil and did our PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course. This now means that we can dive to 30m independently, and we got to do wreck diving and deep diving which was dead cool.

We then went and spent a couple of nights with our friends Dave and Becky in KL, hangin’ out with them and sorting our our stuff before we went to Singapore to catch a flight.

So, Singapore?

It’s the cleanest city in the world,
chewing gum is illegal,
an airport security guard said we Brits talk too much about human rights,
we went to the zoo,
WE FED DUGONGS!!! WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW!!! Absolute highlight of our time there,
I saw baboons bangin’ each other,
I had the dubious privilege of seeing a Fruit Bat give itself a blow job (thankfully, not quite all the way, thank the Lord for small mercies…),
we had some great Indian food,
we went to the Night Safari and that was really cool too,
I had the most expensive beer of my life ever (18S$/7GBP!! What’s that about?),
had a Singapore Sling cocktail and the legendary Raffles Hotel (believe me, overrated!),
was looking forward to seeing the apparently amazing Singapore airport, but found myself in the budget terminal being rather less than overwhelmed. Oh well.

Tiger Airways is definitely THE most stingy airline I’ve ever flown with. Less leg room than Ryan Air (believe it!) and no free food on a 10.5 hour journey. Add to this, baggage was situated in something that could only be described as a backyard shed in the freezing Melbourne winter. Blimey, even temporary classrooms have higher construction values than that place!

But at least they were cheap I suppose.

Next stop, Melbourne…
